We Need Your Help! (con't)
However, the Brazil trip still has great need. Very few folks have indicated an interest to help out. The request asks for 8-15 people to go on a primarily evangelistic trip to the island of Santa Catarina just off the southeast coast of Brazil. Activities will include beach evangelism, one-on-one opportunities, children's ministries (face painting, clowning, balloons, singing), and open air worship services with the Campeche Baptist Church.
The combined efforts of our 31 churches can easily send a small group of missionaries to Brazil for this short-term project. We need to get the word out!
Please begin immediately to promote this mission effort. We are especially interested in those folks who have a heart for reaching the lost and becoming involved in hands-on missions. Are you aware of any young people in your church who are taking Spanish and who would be interested in going with us? Are there adults who are willing to step out and be part of this adventure? Though Spanish or Portuguese will be an asset, we would be interested in talking with anyone who wants to take part—language or no language.
There are also financial needs that will have to be faithfully met by our churches if we hope to make this a reality. The Brazil trip will cost about $1,600 per missionary. (The association budget provides 15 percent toward partnership mission trips.) Most of the ones who have expressed interest in going to Brazil do not have the funds to do so. Please make this a matter of personal prayer.
Time is very short if we are to fill this request and make travel and passport arrangements. We need to confirm participation by January 28. For more information, visit our Website at "www.sbava.org" or call Kathy Smith at 540-297-9283 or the Association office at 540-586-8345.
We are counting on you to help communicate the urgent need of these mission requests and help us recruit the individuals who will make up our teams.
Thanks for your prayerful support.
By His grace,
Steve Manuel, Director of Missions and Ministries, and
Kathy Smith, Missions Partnerships Director
