What's In Store for You? (con't)

February will shape up to be quite busy. I hope you will make time to worship with Nashville recording artist Timothy Mark the weekend of the 7th and 8th. He'll be at Timber Ridge Saturday night to help with a fund raiser for the Nicaragua mission effort that many of us have experienced. The following Sunday morning Mentow will allow him both morning worship hours to lead in worship and praise. On Sunday night Timothy will be with the good folks of Mt. Olivet. Do plan to be a part of this. Timothy has a burden for the needs and hurts of the local church, and his music is not light entertainment, it is a challenge and call from the heart.

The Jeremiah People have been around for 25 years. They are a drama/music team and will be performing at Gretna High School at 7:00 p.m. on February 11. The school is near the First Baptist Church, just off highway 29. If you would like to treat your folks to a special evening, make arrangements to attend this outstanding concert. There is no charge.

Are you interested in foreign missions? There are numerous mission trips being planned. Several teams will journey to Nicaragua, and their work will range from evangelism to discipleship to construction to medical to feeding programs. This summer we will have opportunity to serve alongside the Italian and European Baptist Conventions. This will primarily be an evangelism and discipleship ministry geared toward young people. Also slated is a construction project with the people of the Czech Republic.

Our own local mission field continues to expand through the commitment and unselfishness of those who work each week to teach English to internationals living in the Bedford area. New students are always signing up, and as always, the demand for more teachers never stops. What a contribution and blessing you could be to this ministry!

We are still working with local Bedford officials in an effort to coordinate a June Transformers Project in our Association. If this comes together we will need many of our churches to help with the feeding of more than 120 visiting Baptists from around the state. Hopefully some of our local folks will also volunteer to work on area homes and use the time wisely to share their faith. The theme is to help residents stay "warm, safe, and secure." What better security than to know the Lord of Lords and spend eternity in His presence?

There are more youth events around the corner. We've already experienced outdoor fun and sports, The Re-Creations drama team, and movie nite. There's more in store for your children and grandchildren, but unless you help them stay informed and get them to the events they will never experience the joy of being part of it all.

And let's not forget CenterFest 2004! The date is September 25. More than 25,000 visitors are expected. I wonder how many of our churches will allow Christ to use them at this great Jerusalem event? Can you imagine the tremendous needs and possibilities?

All of these ministries have you in mind. You can get a flavor of these very worthwhile efforts at our Website. Visit the many pages to learn more. Please be praying for how God will use you personally to touch someone with the love of Christ. As the song by Casting Crowns says,

But if we are the body,
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body,
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing?
