ESL Workshop & Outreach (con't)
The following completed the 16-hour workshop: Winnie Agee, Tonya Bredamus, Brian Broaddus, Rev. Seaburn Daniel, Glenda Hester, Pam Howerton, Mary Ann Johnson, Ann Jones, Rhonda Luck, Jerry McDaniel, Rebekah Overstreet Lora Padgett, Janet Ross, Kathy Smith, Kathy Stewart, Doris Still, Colleen Taylor, and Barbara Townsend.
Immediately following the workshop, organizational meetings and work sessions were underway as the volunteer teachers worked to prepare themselves prayerfully and skillfully for this ministry.
Ten students registered on Monday, February 25. Classes, offering two 1-1/2 hour teaching sessions, begin Monday, March 4, and will continue each Monday at Bedford Baptist Church. Each session will include devotionals and emphasize Bible-related content. Prayerful support is needed as this ministry begins. Commit to prayer that we will understand and obey God as He leads us to share our lives with those who will take part in the classes.
There will be opportunities not directly related to teaching English where many can help. If you are interested in helping out in any way besides teaching, please let us hear from you. Folks will be needed to prepare refreshments, open their homes from time to time to students, show foreign guests something of Virginia history and culture, and take part in fellowship and learning opportunities. You don't need to speak the language if you have a smile and loving heart. This ministry is truly a calling from God—a way to show Christian love to those who may be struggling to make a new life for themselves. If this strikes a chord with you, please contact Winnie Agee, 540 586-3555, or Steve Manuel, 540 586-8345 (office) or 540 890-3883 (home).
