The Center for Baptist Heritage & Studies is seeking applicants for the 2005-06 class of Heritage Fellows. The Heritage Fellows program provides an opportunity for Baptist sophomores and juniors attending Virginia schools to learn about aspects of Baptist life, meet current Baptist leaders, and research and work on a project that will be published at the end of the academic year. This year's topic is how Baptists deliver missions in the current culture. Successful applicants must be able to attend a workshop on May 9-11, 2005. Deadline for application is March 15. Southside Association has poured the footings and is working on the foundation for the Developmental Home for men in Farmville, VA. Volunteers are needed to help with work. A day or two a week will be appreciated. There is a site manager and a volunteer coordinator. You may contact Hazel Harrison at 434-392-9066 or e-mail her at htharrison@longwoodu.org. Help will be needed in late spring/summer.
A construction team of 10-12 people is needed in Barre, Vermont, from May 13-20, 2005. Workers will put up vinyl siding and wrap exterior windows on the Green Mountain Baptist Association building which houses the associational missionary family on one side and the associational office on the other. The cost will vary depending on the number of volunteers, but with 10 volunteers, the cost is estimated at $300 per person.
In August 2005 a construction team is needed to renovate a church basement into a Christian Youth Club at Liberec Baptist Church in the Czech Republic. The cost is $1600 per person.
Mission volunteers are needed throughout the year in Somotillo, Nicaragua, to do construction, evangelism, discipleship, and feeding programs. Interpreters are provided! The cost is $1200 per person.
