A Place for You in WMU! (con't)
There were 77 in attendance at the 113th Annual Meeting of the WMU of Strawberry Baptist Association last Saturday, including three pastors; missionary speakers, Daren and Shawna Davis; and the men’s quartet, Happy Timers. Eighteen of our churches were represented: Beaverdam, Bedford, Bethlehem, Big Island, Diamond Hill, Flint Hill, Mentow, Morgans, Mount Hermon, Mount Olivet Mount Zion, North Bedford, Palestine, Pecks, Quaker, Sedalia, Staunton, and Thaxton. The folks at Quaker did an outstanding job of providing for the needs of the group.
A $1,450 budget was adopted, and the following Leadership Team was installed:
Director, Mrs. Rebekah Overstreet (Bedford), 1813 Oakwood St., Bedford 24523, 540-586-2956
Missions Involvement Consultant, Mrs. Winnie Agee (Bedford), 109 Woodcreek Rd., Bedford 24523, 540-586-3555
Acteens Consultant, Mrs. Alma Blankenship (Quaker), 2730 Chestnut Fork Rd., Bedford 24523,540-297-7271

Secretary/Treasurer, Mrs. Jeanette Southall (North Bedford), 2306 Old Farm Rd., Lynchburg 24503, 434-384-1030
The offering of $300 will be given to the Davises who shared about their missionary work in Zambia Africa. We thank everyone who contributed to the generous donation of items for Domestic Violence Services. Following the meeting, a covered-dish luncheon was served in the church fellowship hall. We appreciate the GA groups from several churches who provided handcrafted placemats for the tables. During the meal, we celebrated by lighting candles and placing them on a cake in honor of missionaries whose birthdays were on March 23.
Folks were encouraged to participate in the many opportunities available at the upcoming conference, “Reaching the Blue Ridge Through Prayer,” in Roanoke April 19-20—especially the sessions with Evelyn Christenson. (For more details, see the center of this newsletter.)
Next year’s meeting will be at Radford Church on Saturday, March 22.
