The Value of One Dollar (con't)

May 23-30 has been designated Associational Missions Week. Like the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, we encourage our folks to join together in prayer and giving so that special Association needs might be met. Our theme is "One Dollar per Day per Member for Seven Days." This comes out to only seven dollars, but when we combine the offerings from our 31 congregations it will have a significant impact on our ministry.

Think of the amount like this. One dollar per day per member for seven days is about four gallons of gasoline which figures out to a little over a half gallon a day. Would it be possible over the course of a week to more carefully plan our trips in order to save four gallons of gas? We can then take those dollars saved and offer them to the ministry. Seven dollars is about what you would pay for two cups of Starbucks' specialty coffees or the change dropped into a drink machine to purchase a soft drink each day for a week. Seven dollars is about what we would spend on a lunch at a fast food restaurant. It is less than what a movie ticket costs. Seven dollars is a couple of video rentals or pay-per-view movies. It is far less than half of what many hair stylists charge to cut your hair. Seven dollars is easily found in the loose change in our cars and homes—those dimes, quarters, and even dollars that get tossed into a jar, cup, or drawer and are forgotten until they are rediscovered while cleaning. Are you getting the picture yet?

This special offering is so easy that even children can get involved as they set aside a dollar a day in remembrance of the ministry that God is involved in all around us through the Strawberry Baptist Association. We encourage and challenge individuals and groups to prayerfully consider the ministries of Strawberry Baptist Association, and if these ministries are worthwhile, then as a measure of support, please participate in our "one dollar per day per member for seven days" emphasis.

So what is the value of one dollar? As a sacrifice surrendered to the Lord it is an amount that becomes boundless. God is able to take the motives of the heart and multiply those tangible gifts we call dollars so that many lives are touched to His honor and praise through a variety of ways.
