A Place for You in WMU! (con't)

Let's LIVE IT!

On May 13, 2006, WMU of Virginia will premiere LIVE IT!—a year long focus which encourages Virginia Baptists to connect as they live out Christ's call. A special Virginia Resource will be released in CD and printed format to assist local churches as they live out missions in their congregation, community, and around the world.

WMUV staff will be available on May 13 for phone consultation both in the Richmond office and at CrossRoads. Also, interactive phone bridges will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with topics that include: Community Transformation, the Alma Hunt Offering for Virginia Missions, Aging, World Missions Unlimited, Health and Wellness, Age-level Missions, and opportunities for hands-on involvement. Participants for the phone bridges must register in advance and will incur no cost.

L.ively I.nternet V.irtual E.xperience (L.I.V.E.) is the new web-based resource that presents a monthly topic of interest. Each topic includes Biblical content, illustrative stories, additional resources/links and a theological basis for being involved in a variety of mission opportunities. L.I.V.E. can be used by an individual, small group or congregation for missions learning and involvement.

For more information, go to www.wmu-va.org or call 1-800-255-2428 ext. 8267.

Lana Blankenship and Nancy Lawhorn from Shady Grove and Rebekah Overstreet from Bedford Baptist would like to know if any ladies are interested in beginning quilting classes. If anyone is interested, please e-mail Lana at blanln@cs.com or call 947-2324 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. or e-mail Rebekah at rjoverstreet@charter.net.

SBA Mission Friends Summer Project
From the beginning of Kunjumon Chacko's work with Prison Fellowship, it was the children of inmates that tugged at his heart—and eventually led to his network of children's homes across India. Last year, when thousands of children were orphaned in the wake of South Asia's disastrous tsunami, Chacko decided to expand the Precious Children's Home (originally built to house children of prisoners). This opened an opportunity for Virginia Baptists to partner in the ministry by providing initial funds to help build a "children's village" which will house about 330 children.

During the months of June, July, and August, Mission Friends (and their families) are asked to save pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters—even dollars to help make this "children's village" a reality. At the end of August, give all the money to your church and request that a check be written to Strawberry WMU and mailed to Mrs. Emily Morris, Treasurer, 2161 Penns Mill Rd., Big Island 24526. You might even want to consider giving your VBS offering toward this effort. Your children can truly make a difference in lives of children just like themselves and can connect to something "larger than life" that will truly change lives.
