Luther Lemon has submitted his resignation as pastor of Norwood, effective the end of August.

Mount Hermon hosted a reception honoring Rev. and Mrs. Seaburn Daniel whose golden wedding anniversary was July 11, 2002. The church is establishing a food pantry to help folks in the congregation and community, with the deacons and their wives coordinating the ministry.

Quaker will celebrate Homecoming on Sunday, September 29.

Recently Sedalia donated $50 to the Liberian Livestock Project.

As its summer mission project, Thaxton will lead Backyard Bible Club activities at the Baptist Friendship House in Roanoke on August 12-16. The church’s VBS averaged 120 in attendance. The offering of $477 will be used to purchase 381 Bibles for children along the Amazon.

On July 7, Timber Ridge baptized 7 youth as a result of Rick Gage’s “Go Tell” camp.

The 2002 SBA Annual Meeting will be at Morgans Church, Monday, October 28. First session at 4 p.m, meal at 5:30, evening session at 6:30. Cost of meal is $8.50 per person. For child care, call the church office at 540-297-4959.

Following is a list of churches and the number of elected messengers to which they are entitled: Beaverdam-9, Bedford-11, Bethel-4, Bethlehem-4, Big Island-8, Diamond Hill-4, Flint Hill-10, Glade Creek-5, Hunting Creek-7, Mentow-11, Morgans-12, Mount Hermon-7, Mount Olivet-6, Mount Zion-6, Mountain View-4, North Bedford-10, Norwood-4 (pending), Palestine-8, Pecks-7, Quaker-7, Radford-7, Rainbow Forest-6, Sedalia-5, Shady Grove-10, Staunton-5, Suck Spring-5, Terrace View-4, Thaxton-8, Timber Ridge-8, Trinity-10, Walnut Grove-4. Under the revised Bylaws, no one is automatically a messenger except SBA officers.

Thanks to those churches who have contributed a total of $3,378.48 (as of July) toward this year’s Associational Mission Week offering. The following churches have submitted names of Representatives to SBA’s Executive Board for 2002-2003: Beaverdam, Bethlehem, Big Island, Flint Hill, Hunting Creek, Morgans, Mount Olivet, Mount Zion, North Bedford, Palestine, Quaker, Sedalia, Thaxton, Timber Ridge, and Trinity. For those not listed, please send the information to the association office as soon as possible so committee assignments can be reported at the Annual Meeting.
