On Thursday evening, September 5, 5:30, the Big Island community will host a covered dish retirement dinner at the American Legion building to honor Charles and Carol Edmonds on their retirement. The Rescue Squad and Fire Department will do the same on September 14. The Edmonds will conclude their 14-year ministry at Big Island Church the end of September.

Morgans will have a Homecoming celebration on Sunday, September 8. Dr. Charles Fuller, pastor emeritus of First Baptist Church, Roanoke, will be the guest speaker. “The Victors” will be in concert following the covered dish lunch. Morgans is seeking a part-time secretary. For further information, please contact the pastor at 297-4959 or 297-0942.

Mount Hermon has planned Homecoming services for October 13. Rev. Eugene Campbell, who pastored the church from 1955-1959, will bring the sermon. The day will begin with a song service at 10 a.m.

North Bedford will have Homecoming services on Sunday, September 8. Guest speaker for the day will be Rev. Philip Mitchell, SBCV Church Enrichment Consultant for the Central Area of Virginia. A covered dish lunch will follow the 11 a.m. worship service.

Norwood recently collected a love offering of $1,000 to be contributed to the National D-Day Memorial.

Quaker’s Homecoming services will be Sunday, September 29. Former pastor, Rev. Lewis Garst, will bring the message at the 11 a.m. worship service. Following a covered dish meal in the fellowship hall, there will be a special music service. Fall Revival Services at Quaker will be October 6-9, 7 p.m.. Rev. Melvin Harris, pastor of Halesford Church, will be the guest speaker.

River Rock’s third and final preview session was held on August 18 at the Jamerson YMCA in the Wyndhurst community. Attendance was again about 40. The regular meeting schedule begins on September 15.

We encourage our brothers and sisters of Strawberry to pray about their personal involvement in this new ministry. It would be most helpful to have a consistent and committed core group of believers to help us get this new church growing strong. Recently, Staunton welcomed MiSook Kim as their pianist. She and her husband, Kwon Sik Kim, have two daughters, Grace and Amy. Mr. Kim is a student at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.
Sam Scaggs, a Master of Religious Education student at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, has agreed to serve Staunton as interim youth pastor. His wife, Ruth, will be serving as church secretary during this time.

September 8-11, 6:30 each evening, Timber Ridge presents the second annual Central Virginia Bible Conference, “The Future is Now,” a study of the teachings of Christ from the Mount of Olives Featured speakers: Sunday, Dr. Charles Draper & Rev. Walnut Grove’s VBS enrollment was 162 (including 28 youth), with average attendance of 128. Six children accepted Jesus Christ as Savior as a result of this evangelist effort.
