Big Island Baptist Church acknowledges with grateful appreciation your tribute to the memory of Mrs. Clara Edmonds.

On October 17, Dr. George Wortley narrated slides and shared pictures and Tarahumaras items from his three medical mission trips to Mexico.

The 18th annual Brunswick Stew will be held at the Big Island firehouse on November 3, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy Bluegrass music from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will provide Christmas for the girls of the Miller Home in Lynchburg.


Hunting Creek has called Donald Toms as Minister of Music. The church will have its annual Thanksgiving Supper on November 14.


On November 18, 7 p.m., Palestine will host Mentow and Huddleston Methodist churches for the annual Community Thanksgiving Service. Rev. Randy Hatcher, Mentow’s pastor, will bring the message.


Mount Zion Baptist Men sent a team of 7 to assist with the disaster relief effort for flood victims in Southwest Virginia. The team consisted of 4 adult men and 3 teenage young men. The work included hanging sheet rock, carpentry and painting. The team spent Friday night, worked on Saturday and returned Saturday night. The WMU conducted a coat closet at the old Montvale Elementary School in September and ministered to 33 people. Total offerings for Alma Hunt State Missions were $636.32. A “Prove-The-Tithe” emphasis was conducted during October.


North Bedford will have revival services November 11-14. The Sunday morning service will be at 11, with evening services at 7:30. Rev. Roger Roller will be the guest speaker, and there will be special music each service. North Bedford received $6,432 for World Hunger.


Sedalia is looking for a worship leader to direct a 30+ member choir and the Sunday morning praise/ worship service. For info, contact pastor Mike Jones, 804-299-5039.


Thaxton will have revival services November 11-13. Dr. John Chandler, director of Evangelism and Church Growth for the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, will lead the services and a seminar entitled “Raising Evangelistic Temperature.”

On Saturday, December 1, 7 p.m., The Easters, a gospel group that has sung with the Gaithers, will be in concert at Thaxton.

Thaxton is looking for a pianist for Wednesday evening and Sunday morning services. Pay is $120 per week. For more information, contact Beth Vinson at the church office, 586-8348.


On Sunday, October 28, 2001, Trinity ordained Rick Dellinger to the gospel ministry. Rev. Dellinger is presently a Music Evangelist. We praise God for Rick’s commitment to the Lord, both in music and preaching ministry.
