Etc., Etc., Etc. (con't)

Our next Association Youth Event will be Youth Movie Night on January 11 at Thaxton Baptist Church. On Sunday evening we will be showing "The Climb," a movie about two hotshot solo climbers who forge an uneasy alliance in order to ascend one of the world's most dangerous peaks. Their treacherous journey takes them higher-and deeper-than they've ever been before.

Times will be announced a bit later, but begin now to promote this youth event in your church and schools. We look forward to a great crowd! Bad weather date is Sunday, January 18.

Wonderful mission opportunities lie ahead for folks in Strawberry Baptist Association. From the state partnership meeting in Richmond, the following project has been assigned to us: A construction team is needed to assist in the reconstruction of the chapel for a Baptist Church in Brno, Czech Republic. Church members will provide lodging and food in their homes. Dates for the trip will be July or August 2004 and team size is 8 to 10 adults. Estimated cost is $1,500 per person.

Virginia Baptists have formed a partnership with the Italian Baptist Union and we have an opportunity to work with the European Baptist Convention's (English-language churches) Summer Youth Camp in Switzerland, July 2-9, 2004. Various assistance is requested: nurse or doctor; sponsors, counselors; teachers for small groups; worship band; experienced large group Bible teacher; preacher; camp cook; assistant cook; utility person. This is the annual meeting of Baptist churches, and the camp is designed for youth who will be coming with their parents. Team members will bunk in a rented Swiss Army barracks. Estimated cost is $1,500.

Many mission opportunities are available here in Virginia and others are available through Impact Northeast! States include Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington DC. We hope to have this information on Strawberry's Website in the near future.

Please contact Kathy L. Smith, 540-292-9283, if you have an interest in any of these projects or if you have any questions.
