Emmett Lawrence was ordained as a deacon of Walnut Grove on August 15, 2004. Those taking part in his service were Rev. Harold Lewis, pastor of Walnut Grove Baptist; deacons, Mike Dooley, Jimmy Harris, Tommy Cook, and Matt Stafford; and both the Baptist and Methodist congregations of Walnut Grove. Emmett was presented a certificate of ordination by Mike Dooley who spoke of the work Emmett has done for the church.
