Thanks from New Mission Pastor (con't)
Knowing that you will want to keep updated with how God is moving in this new work, I will do my best to send out a regular e-mail with praises and prayer requests. I will also be in close contact with our DOMM, Steve Manuel.
I realize that a question some people may have is: "Why sponsor a new church—aren't there enough already?" That's a great question!
My response:
- Obedience to the Great Commission—go into all the world. The reality is that to reach our world, there must be all types of churches to reach all types of people.
- At least 50% of the people in this area do not regularly attend church anywhere.
- In America, more than 200 churches close there doors each week.
- Research has shown that starting new churches is the most effective means of evangelism and church growth.
- Bedford County is the fastest growing area in Virginia west of I95. New people to this area are more apt to try a new church, rather than an established church. New people connect best with new people.
- God's Truth on Giving: Luke 6:38- Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
- God's calling and leading in my personal life and also the life of the Missions Development Committee.
If God so leads, I would love the opportunity to share with you and your church the passion God has placed on my heart to start a new church that will build up families and build His Kingdom.
Thanks again for your partnership in this new mission. I pray that this new church will one day be able to bless the Strawberry Association of churches just as you are blessing us now. n
