How to Know God

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts on February 16, 1965.

Moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee when I was 5 years old, as my father attended Tennessee Temple Bible School.

After 4 years, and upon graduation of my father from Bible School, my dad accepted a call to Bible Town Community Church as Minister of Evangelism. (Boca Raton, FL) Through God ordained circumstances the position at this church was no longer available once my family moved to Boca Raton. My dad began a home Bible Study and through this, met a man who was the first Chaplain in professional football for the Miami Dolphins. This man believed my dad was the man he had been praying for to start a Chapel program in professional baseball. After much prayer, my dad began ministering as a Chaplain to the Boston Red Sox. After 9 years as Chaplain, my dad began a Professional Baseball School as a means to share the gospel and minister to baseball athletes. This is the atmosphere I had the privilege of growing up in. Our family life consisted mainly of ministry and evangelism.

Upon graduation from high school in St. Petersburg, FL, I began attending the University of South Florida. I graduated 6 years later with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Finance. During my senior year in college, my brother and I began a Water-Ski School. It was also during this time that I was led by God to volunteer as a Youth Pastor at a local Southern Baptist church.

After 2 years as a lay youth pastor, God led me to San Francisco, CA to attend Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree, focused on church planting. With one year to go in seminary God provided me with the gift of a bride, Caroline Virginia.

From San Francisco, God led my wife and I back to St. Pete, FL, so that we could spend more time with my mother who was dying of cancer. In God's divine providence there was a core group of people who had been praying for someone to help them start a new church, in St. Pete. I accepted a position as Assistant Pastor 2 months before the launch of this new church. By God's grace He had me stay at this church for 61/2 years. During this time I was privileged to witness many, many lives transformed by the miraculous power of Jesus Christ. We began the ministry here pregnant with our first child and left just over 6 years later…pregnant with our fifth child. (names and current ages of God's little blessings to us: Justin-6, Noah-5, Charis-4, Elijah-2, Sophia-1)

A year and a half ago God led us to this area of Virginia to focus on developing a Simply Devoted ministry to families…providing devotional resources that would encourage, inspire, and equip parents in having a family worship time each day.

About 6 months ago God began to open my eyes and ears to His calling of starting a church in this area that would be intentional in the building up and equipping of Godly households. Lord-willing, we are praying about starting this new church in the Forest area on Father's Day, June 16, 2002. God has been preparing the new YMCA at Wyndhurst as our location of Sunday worship. We are excited to see what He is going to do next and who He will call out to be a part of this new church plant. We know that we can't do it alone….it's all up to Him.

….upon this rock I will build my church;
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
