The pastor shared his heart. He was burdened. “I am so discouraged by what I see,” he sighed. “Our congregation is fractured; there are many who have either left the church or are considering leaving.” He went on to add, “Hardly a week goes by that I don’t hear of someone complaining or gossiping about some one or some thing. And the truly sad part of the whole matter, most of the discord is over petty concerns and misunderstandings.” More

Messengers should get their registration cards from church clerks or pastors by the middle of October. Please fill in name before arriving—it saves time for everyone. Visitors will register on arrival. Cost of the meal is $8.50 per person. Checks should be payable to Morgans Baptist Church. During the Memorial Service, each pastor or a church representative will give the names of members who have died during the past year. (These will be in the Book of Reports.)

Would you be willing to become part of an Internet prayer team? The idea is to allow visitors to place a prayer request on our Website that would immediately be sent to prayer@sbava.org. This mailbox in turn would automatically and confidentially forward the requests directly to you. You would then add these items to your personal daily prayer time.
Please consider the great need of this ministry. If you are willing to commit to prayer, let us know at sba@sbava.org.
Since everyone enjoys a holiday celebration, Mexico’s Independence Day gave our ESL Ministry the excuse for a big bash at Bedford Baptist on September 16. Colors from each students’ country were used in the flags, banners, balloons, and streamers. Everyone enjoyed the feast of hot dogs with all the trimmings and big cakes decorated in Mexico’s colors. With a background of Mexican/Spanish music playing, it was truly a delight to see our guests’ faces as they spied a flag of their own country. Some even braved the heat to shoot baskets on the basketball court! What a joy and a blessing it is to be a part of this ministry. At present, we have seven Spanish speaking students , one student from the Ukraine, and two from Russia. —Edited version of a report by Mary Ann Johnson
