In the first chapter of Acts, the disciples gathered together after Jesus ascended back to Heaven. He had been crucified, buried, then arose from the grave. They had spent the last 40 days with Him, then He was gone! Now What?
We are in transition in the Strawberry Association. At this time, we do not have a DOM, most of the committees aren’t functioning properly, and finances are tight. Everybody’s wondering “Now What?”
As churches, or as an association of churches, we can’t keep doing the same old thing in the same old way and expect different results. What we are doing and the way we have been doing it is not working—we are not reaching the people of Bedford County with the gospel.
Over the past nine months, the Self-Study Team has interviewed pastors and held a “Dessert & Dialogue” meeting with the Executive Board. Currently, we are holding regional meetings throughout the association in order to inform the people about what we have discovered so far and receive feedback from them. In response to “What’s important enough to keep?” we discovered several “Values.”

If you are a minister looking for sermon ideas, or a Bible teacher who wants fresh insights, or if you simply want the refreshment of study in God’s Word, “Preach It! Teach It!” is the answer!
As in past years, the study is based on the upcoming January Bible Study material The 2010 study, Stories for Life: Parables of the Kingdom in Matthew, will lead to a better understanding of the kingdom of God as well as the parables in Matthew’s Gospel that focus on the kingdom. In addition, adults will discover how to enter and live in the kingdom as well as how to await its consummation.
Preach It! Teach It! will be facilitated by Dr. Bob Moore, pastor of Bonsack Baptist Church and one of the finest preacher/teachers among Virginia Baptists. There is no charge for the event. In addition, those who attend will receive Bob’s “special edition” study notes absolutely free! Pre-registration is not required, but appreciated. (Doing so, will aid Dr. Moore in providing the needed number of study notes.)
To register, contact the Christian Leadership Network, phone, 540.777.3014 or 866.223.9344 (toll-free), or email, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Evangelism Team, along with servants from Flint Hill, Hunting Creek, Mentow, Mt. Zion, Palestine, Quaker, and Thaxton, participated at our booths at CenterFest. Our spirit was not dampened by the rain—instead, we did what we could to show our Savior's love through the Child Care tent, handing out toys to the kids, and serving lemonade and water.
Special thanks to Flint Hill for the lemonade and to Stop In Food Store (Longwood Ave.) for the donation of ice.
